This is my home garden.The top picture was taken in 2011 when we first did the landscaping. Second picture is taken a few days ago.See the difference that it has done over the 5 years. This 100 feet waterfall is known as Mohini Falls. It is situated 2km from Nallathanni, on the way to Sri Pada.The water cascades like flowing hair of a woman. As per the folklore, Mohini is a female non-human spirit (ghost) who target men. A few men would dare to walk near the falls alone, after dusk.

This giant woody vine (Liana or 'Pus' wela in local language) can be seen near Hunuwila, Opanayake between Pelmadulla and Balangoda. Above photo was taken from the edge of the hard rock on top of Diyaluma. A few feet away, there is a vertical drop and water falls about 700 feet and goes under the bridge of Beragala - Wellawaya Road. You can see the road below and a van travelling on the road like a dot.

Remember I told you that, there are many hiking routes in an around this area.There are many smaller waterfalls on top of Diyaluma formed by Poonagala Oya. This is one of the more beautiful ones situated just above Diyaluma. We call it Uda (Upper) Diyaluma Falls.

This is the path from Makara Thorana to Sama Vihara on the way to Sri Pada peak (Nallathanni Route). When you take the bend, you will see four more water falls.

Cloud forests are generally found in tropical mountainous areas. The main characteristic is that there is a low cloud layer. The mist gives an enchanted look to the forest. Cloud forests are quite rare and found in very few places in the world. Luckily, we find cloud forests in most of the montane rain forests in Sri Lanka.Above picture was taken in side a cloud forest somewhere in Sri Pada range.

This 60m waterfall is situated above Sama Chetiya (Peace pagoda) of Nallathanni Sri Pada route. The name of the falls is 'Yaka Handu Ella'. It translated to 'waterfall of the crying demon'. I have no idea how it got its name.I took a photo of the same falls sometime back from the top of Adam's peak.

This photo is from Knuckles Range. The place is famous as Pitawalapathana. Dikpathana (Pronounced as ðIkpʌƟənə) is another name to the same plain. 'Pathana' is a local name for grassy plain, usually seen in mountainous regions.You can view Maningala as the backdrop here.

This picture was taken near Uda Diyaluma around 6pm.We went pass Diyaluma falls on A4 and turned to a gravel road. Then climbed about 2 km along a footpath through the forest and reached here. We walked further and reached a point above Uda Diyaluma falls and camped there overnight.Faraway, we can see Balathoduwa and Gonmollikanda.This is one of the best area for hiking and camping in Sri Lanka.
