Steam deck 256GB LCD version with a Bluetooth gaming controller and JBL Vibe 200TWS earbuds I just realized I’ve been using the Steam Deck for two years, and this is a good time to reflect on my experience. This post is a mixture of thoughts about the device itself and a few notes I realized along the way about my ...
As part of my job, I have to read many research papers (which are usually distributed as two-column PDFs with fixed formatting). I like reading other books in my free time as well. To relieve me of the burden of carrying a lot of physical books around and not having to take out the laptop when I want to quickly ...
I visited Buenos Aires, Argentina in May 2017, and it was very different from the cities I have visited earlier. I stayed in the old barrio of San Telmo but was able to visit few other barrios such as Recoleta, San Nicolás, Monserrat, Puerto Madero, and La Boca. In the San Telmo neighborhood, you can walk along the cobblestone streets admiring the ...
I visited Tokyo, Japan in March 2017. It’s a huge, beautiful city and you cannot cover everything awesome in few days. I spent 4 nights in Tokyo and 5 nights in Kamakura. Travel Tip: Tokyo has a great train network. But they are operated by different companies like JR, Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway. Make sure you buy a prepaid ...
This is a post in progress. I will be using this to bookmark interesting talks, as I find them, on Software Engineering research which summarizes the work done in the past decade (roughly) and therefore will be useful for new students like me. If you come across any talks which match those criteria, please suggest them in a comment below. What ...

When a language dies, we don’t know what we loose with that language This veteran English teacher, with over three decades of experience teaching English in Arabic countries, brings out some interesting points about tests of English language fluency being a barrier for education of non-native speakers. But I wonder why language teachers have to be gatekeepers, when they have ...

So a pull request, involving a change in the documentation to use gender-neutral form, to libuv, (one of the libraries Node.js relies heavily upon) was rejected, applied, reverted, and re-applied over the course of two days. Things got escalated quickly and heated words were exchanged via tweets, blog posts and github comments. And now, Ben Noordhuis, one of the core ...

View Larger Map I visited Auckland, New Zealand in March 2013. Although it’s the largest and most populous city in the country, I found it to be a very relaxed city where everyone closes shops early and goes to sleep around 6pm and even a cat lost at sea makes headlines in the local newspaper. It’s situated in the north ...

I couldn’t resist the urge to create a visualization while playing with gephi for my GSoC project over the weekend. The Netvizz Facebook application was used to get the data extracted from the Tweeps group, a hangout spot for Sri Lankan Twitter users. Imported the gdf file to gephi and did the coloring based on the clusters. Did slight modifications to ...

I used to read a lot when I was small. But didn’t get the chance to read much after I started my higher education. Had no time to hangout in libraries and it was exhausting to stare at PDFs in a monitor after working with computers whole day, and mostly I couldn’t take my laptop on to bed like ...
