The Final of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2023/24 between Team Kandy and Team Galle commenced today (30th April) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Galle Skipper Ramesh Mendis won the toss and opted to field first. Pawantha Weerasinghe and Sahan Kosala opened the batting for Team Kandy and the duo managed to provide a solid start, adding 40 runs for the first wicket.

Kandy No. 3 batter Kavind Bandara did not trouble the scorers as he was dismissed in the very next over for a duck. Kosala and the wicket-keeper batter Sithara Gimhan then steadied the innings, building a vital 111-run partnership for the third wicket.
Kosala gave a good account of himself, scoring 84 runs off 114 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Gimhan was the top scorer for Team Kandy as he amassed 90 runs off 184 balls with 7 fours.
However, Team Galle bowlers managed to drag things back as they picked up the last 5 wickets for 98 runs. Asanka Manoj was the pick of the bowlers for Galle as he scalped 3 wickets for 28 runs.
