Assetline Insurance Brokers (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of David Pieris Group of Companies has come forward to sponsor the first ever Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) T10 Cricket Tournament 2024, on 27th and 28th April & continued on 04th & 05th May.
The following 16 MCA teams will participate in this historic event.
Recovery Room, Powerhand Plantations, Peoples Leasing Co., Ansell Textiles, George Steuart Health, Emar Pharma, Certis Lanka, Softlogic Life, Citizens Development Business Finance (CDB), David Pieris Group of Companies, Dialog Axiata PLC, Hilton Colombo Residencies, Seylan Bank, Astron Lanka, LOLC &; Maliban Biscuits.
Initially up to the quarter finals,the tournament will be conducted on matting wickets & the semi finals & the final on turf, using the white ball, with players attired in colored clothing, in two stages, playing a total of 31 matches.
The 16 teams will be pooled in to 04 groups & firstly will be engaged in a round robin, in the league stage, consisting 24 matches; at the completion of the league stage, the 02 top teams of each group will advance to the Knock out quarter Finals consisting 07 matches including the Final.
The 31 Matches will be spread as follows:
On 27th & 28th April, simultaneously, at MCA grounds, Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya & De Mazanod College Kandana (04 matches at each venue) ; 04th May: Quarter Finals @ De Mazenod College Kandana, & the Semi Finals & the Final on 05th May will be played on turf at the MCA grounds.
The Sponsorship handing over ceremony, together with the Media Conference, the Captains briefing & the draw for groupings was held on Wednesday, 24th April at the MCA Legends Wing, 6.30 pm.
