SL Army, Ladies’ College and Asian International School take major honours in 39th National Rowing Competition

  ARASL’s Sri Lanka National Rowing Championships

The largest Rowing competition in the country; ARASL’s Sri Lanka National Rowing Championships stretched from the 3rd to the 6th of April at the Diyawanna Rowing Center for the 39th consecutive year. Facilitating over 200 races, along with the customary participation of Forces, Schools and Universities.

This year’s Amateur Rowing Association’s National Rowing Championships headed for a grand start, marked by the opening of DRC’s second pier. Continued for 4 consecutive days, the regatta consisted of multiple rounds including Heats, Repechage, Semi-Finals and Finals, distributed within the time period.

The events were raced under 5 age categories consisting Under 14,16,18, Intermediate and Open categories: for both Boys, Girls, Men and Women. We saw the participation of all three forces, three universities, and a total of 13 schools.

The following standard boats were raced under the stated age categories.

Single scull – All categories

Double scull – All categories

Coxless Quadruple scull – All categories over 18 Coxed Quadruple scull – Under 16

Pair – All categories over 14

Coxed four – All categories over 14

The end of the event was marked with the presentation of the overall Girls Trophy to Ladies College, the overall Boys trophy to the Asian International School and both the Men’s and Women’s overall Trophy to the SL Army.

The School boy sculler Trophy was awarded to Asian International School, whereas The School girl sculler Trophy was won by The Diyawanna Rowing Academy, for the athlete with the most number of achievements in the category.
