The Novices Swimming Championships 2023 organized by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union will be held from the 25th-27th of March as a 3-day meet at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
A novice is a swimmer who has not been placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd or has not achieved the qualification times specified for the event by SLASU. Accordingly, 1826 novice swimmers from 155 different clubs and schools will compete at the Novices this time. The meet will be held as an age group competition under 6 age groups Under 11, 13,15,17,20, and 20 & Over.
Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union has scheduled the 3-day meet as the 1st day only for girls in the junior age categories and the 2nd day for both girls and boys Under 17 – 20 and Over age groups. And finally, the 3rd day for junior boys in under 15 age groups for the convenience of all clubs and schools island-wide.
A swimmer has the chance of participating in a maximum of 3 events and all swimmers who achieve the qualification standards given by SLASU in particular events will be eligible to compete at the upcoming advanced swimming championships. The qualification times per age group and events are as follows.
When recalling the 2022 novices, Visakha Vidyalaya – Colombo and Ananda College – Colombo won the overall championships.
