Seven 2-day encounters of the U19 Inter Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (13th January), at several venues across the island.

Thurstan College registered a convincing 9-wicket win over Maris Stella College in their traditional encounter, worked off today at Thurstan College Grounds.

Vihas Thewmika’s match bag of 10 wickets and Thanuga Palihawadana’s match bag of 8 wickets played pivotal roles in Thurstan’s comfortable win.

The traditional encounter played between S. Thomas’ College and Wesley College for the Mahadevan Sathasivam Challenge Trophy commenced today at S. Thomas’ College Grounds in Mount Lavinia.

The hosts ended the first day’s play on a commanding position, having posted a solid first innings score of 312/6 on the board. Mahith Perera was the star performer with the bat for the hosts as he stroked an unbeaten 152 runs off 181 balls with 18 fours and 2 sixes.

Perera became the highest individual run-scorer in the history of S. Thomas’ College vs Wesley College Cricket encounters played for the Mahadevan Sathasivam Challenge Trophy.

The traditional encounter between Royal College and St. Joseph’s College commenced today at St. Joseph’s College Grounds in Colombo. The hosts ended day one on a dominant position, having posted 336/4 on the board for their first innings.

Hiran Jayasundara stole the limelight with a brilliant century for the Joes. He stroked an unbeaten 156 runs off 268 balls with 14 fours and a six.
