U19 Division 1 School Cricket Tournament 2022 (Limited-Overs)

Seven matches of the U19 Division 1 Schools Limited Overs Cricket Tournament were worked off today (03rd October) at several venues across the island.

S.Thomas’ College registered a massive 225-run win over De Mazenod College today at Kandana. Thomian top order batter Romesh Mendis smashed the tournament’s highest individual score this season, scoring 166 runs off 139 balls with 12 fours and 6 sixes.

After a brilliant batting performance, Thomian bowlers backed it with a sensational bowling effort led by Rajindu Tilakaratne who picked up 5 wickets for 15 runs.

Mahanama College recorded a thumping win over St. Anne’s College in their Tier A encounter played today at Army Grounds in Mattegoda. Dumidu Ranatunga starred with the ball for Mahanama taking 4 wickets for 29 runs which helped them to restrict the opposition to a low score of 140 runs.

It was a walk-in-the-park victory for Mahanama College as they crossed the line in just 15 overs without losing any wicket. The opening pair Banula Alagawatta (84*) and Kavindu Amameth (50*) stroked blistering half-centuries for the lads from Colombo.

Pawan Sandesh’s majestic ton powered Devapathiraja College to victory against Lumbini College. Sandesh stroked a brilliant knock of 141 runs which led the Rathgama boys to put on a competitive score of 262 on the board.

Lumbini College fought back nicely with the bat coming closer to the target, but they couldn’t get over the line as they fell by just 8 runs at the end. Malith Bimsara and Daham Kaushalya stroked fighting half-centuries for Lumbini College.
