Nepal sends Sri Lanka for a six; India down Bangladesh in semis

Nepal hammered Sri Lanka 6-0 in the semi-final of the SAFF U17 Championship 2022 at the Racecourse Stadium.

Going into the match Sri Lanka knew they were up against the strong Nepal side who beat India in their final group game. The Lions cubs held firm till the 22nd minute before giving away a penalty, which Prashant Laksam dispatched with ease.

In the 24th minute Harish Raj Bhatta curled in a wonderful goal and Subash Bam added the third in the 31st minute. Niraj Karki scored the 4th in the 38th minute to end the 1st half 4-0.

After the break, Unesh Budathoki scored the 5th in the 52nd minute and Sijal Rai scored the 6th in the 90th minute.

India v Bangladesh

In the other semi-final India secured a hard fought 2-1 win against Bangladesh. At half time it was 0-0.

Thanglalsoun Gangte opened the scoring for India in the 51st minute and he added the 2nd in the 59th minute. Mirajul Islam scored a penalty in the 62nd minute setting up an intense last 30 minutes. However, India held firm to deny Bangladesh and secure a place in the final.
