Sri Lanka came blazing back after a slow start to take home the Asian Netball Championship title for the 2nd time running, beating hosts Singapore 63-53 at the OCBC Arena earlier today.

Unbeaten throughout the competition, Sri Lanka were expected to walk all over Singapore in this game, but the hosts had different ideas. They got out of the blocks the better side, racing to a 3-0 side, before Sri Lanka managed to catch up. The hosts played out of their skins and took a 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, to the surprise of many pundits, including those in the commentary box.

The 2nd quarter was a much tighter affair as Sri Lanka finally settled into the game, taking it 14-11.

The game was still very much evenly poised going into the third quarter, but Sri Lanka really blew Singapore away with some incredible, fast-paced Netball, leaving their opponents in the dust. It was the quarter that ultimately proved to be the difference, Sri Lanka running out with a 19-08 lead (46-38).

From that point it was just about holding their nerve and they did so with ease, extending their lead by another 2 goals to end the game with a 10-goal lead.
