PM: Govt to establish Buddhist temples in all countries

In the recent past I have seen few comments by our Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne regarding Buddhism and Buddha Sasana. Of course he is the Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious affairs in the country as well. Sri Lankan Prime Minister does not make many headlines in the news like the other politicians, but out of the few comments he have made some are controversial.

Among the recent comments made by him some have been heavily criticized by the human right groups e.g. planning to recruit as much as 2600 children as child monks to the Buddha Sasana (a.k.a Buddhist Church) in May 2011 marking the 2600th "Buddha Jayanthiya"

Keeping the internal matters aside, the PM has made some interesting remarks regarding the "Buddha Bar" restaurant chain operating in several other counties.., and in a more recent comment; the Sri Lankan Government planning to establish Buddhist Temples in all the countries  as an "immediate" measure.

Secular Sri Lanka (SSL) has no intention of insulting the Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. However as a Government (and/or responsible officials of it) should we waste the tax payer’s money on these matters?
