Sri Lanka U19 won the 3rd youth ODI of Bangladesh U19s tour of Sri Lanka by 3 wickets to secure the series with two matches to go.

Batting first in this pressure game, Bangladesh U19s had a faulty start to their innings with the opener Mahfijul Islam departing in the first over on zero.

It was a below-par batting performance as a team itself for Bangladesh. Six batters departed without even making it to double figures.

Thanks to the valiant efforts of Ashikur Zaman Bangladesh managed to score a modest 184 runs. Zaman scored a resilient 54 runs and remained unbeaten after 73 deliveries. He was well assisted by Ahosan Habib, who scored 33 runs off 54 deliveries.

Sri Lanka brought 5 debutants into the side for this game and one of those debutants was the left-arm paceman Vinuja Ranpul who ended up being the most destructive weapon against them. The boy from Nalanda College picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs in his 7 overs.

Vice-captain Raveen de Silva came into the party with the ball in this game after a while as he bagged 3 scalps too.

Another debutant, Wanuja Sahan recorded 2 wickets for 26 runs to support Sri Lanka earn this win.

In batting, it was the stylish Josephian left-hander who impressed everyone with an elegant knock of 85 runs.

Sri Lanka too had a hiccup in batting. They had a new pair of openers for the game, Harindu Jayasekara and Ryan Fernando. Both did not make an impression as they departed for single figures.

Pawan Pathiraja paired up with Shevon Daniel for a useful 75-run partnership to steady the ship for Sri Lanka. But, another sudden collapse left them struggling at 122 for 7.

Wanuja, who is also a decent bat, was again given the supporters role, as he held up one end with Shevon Daniel, steering Sri Lanka to a win. Sahan struck a fighting 38 runs off 53 deliveries.

Mushfik Hasan was the chief wrecker for Bangladesh as he bagged 3 wickets for 46 runs.

Shevon recovered quickly from the early setback and drove Sri Lanka home.

The next game will be played on Saturday, 23rd October 2021.
