Current vaccines won’t kill the virus or stop COVID’s spread. Instead, they stop the vaccinated from dying. The plague will keep spreading through the vaccinated. After all, its aim is propagation. The host (people) dying is collateral damage beyond the perception (if it has any) of a COVID 19 virus particle. The best we can hope for is to reduce COVID 19 to harmless flu.
Yet it’s not harmless flu. You can get reinfected. How the second reinfection will be is hard to tell. There are no data about the third reinfections. Yet.
There is no fixed defence to the virus because it’s constantly evolving. The interaction of the virus and the host results in mutation. Often it’s minor. Yet, the breadth of COVID’s spread widens the buffet of options for mutation. Variants and the vaccines for the variants and more vaccines. The dance goes on. I can only hope it does good things for my Pfizer shares (if I could afford any).
What kind of world does that lead create? There’s no old pre-covid world to “go back”. Cycles of spikes and spreads? More people falling ill in waves? Will you have enough sick leave to cover all that? Will the pounding waves of infections weaken us or make us stronger?
The complications and the implications are the kind of stuff that costs a fortune in compute time to think through. So it’s best to turn off the noise (news) and heed the Call of Cthulhu. After all, only those who serve Cthulhu will be eaten. The rest are doomed.
