Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) plans to offer a window to host the postponed IPL in Sri Lanka during September.

Due to the high spike in coronavirus cases in India and the increasing number of covid-19 positive cases among several IPL franchises, Indian Premier Leage (IPL) was postponed three days ago.

The tournament halted after conducting 29 matches and the failure to complete the remaining 31 matches will incur Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) losses of around 340 million USD.

Professor Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of management committee of SLC has shown the interest to offer a window to host IPL in September in Sri Lanka after the conclusion of scheduled Lanka Premier League (LPL).

“Yes, we can certainly provide a window to host the IPL in the month of September”, de Silva told to Deccan Chronicle.

“We hear the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is their one option but Sri Lanka cannot be ignored for all reasons. We are planning to host the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in July-August and the grounds and other infrastructure will be ready for the IPL in September”, de Silva further said.
