How to Get Free Site Security for Your Small Business Website

With companies of every size and industry clamouring to get their business online, website security has become one of the primary concerns of not only Small Business owners, but pretty much every business owner.

Why Small Business Owners Ignore Website Security

However, unlike the larger businesses, small biz owners don’t take sufficient precaution when it comes to website security due to the lack of awareness of the risks and consequences. One of the reasons could be that most small business owners even think that they are too small to be noticed by hackers. What they don’t know is that most hackers use tools to find vulnerable sites automatically. Which means, the tools fish out vulnerable sites and most of the time, sites with poor security issues are highlighted, regardless of your business size or type.

What Are the Risks Factors

An unprotected website can be a huge security risk to your customers and other businesses that work with you online. It can even spread malware, attacks on other websites. And the worst part is, if you do become a target and your website or app is under attack, you may not even be able to find the perpetrators or file a lawsuit against them.

What I’m trying to say is, it’s better safe than be sorry. And most tools that provide security for small businesses are not that expensive to begin with. And today, I’m going to share with you a website security and performance platform that will be free until the 1st of September.

Cloudflare Website Security Platform

Cloudflare, the website security and performance platform, has offered their Cloudflare for Teams service free for small businesses for at least six months – that is, until the 1st of September.

Their Free plan is offered mainly for personal websites and blogs. Here’s what the free package entails;

  • Unmetered Mitigation of DDoS attacks
  • Global (CDN) Content Delivery Network
  • Shared SSL certificate
  • 3 page rules
  • Support via email

This free plan is more suitable for small websites and blogs and will provide access to foundational security and performance. Cloudflare’s Free plan has no limit on the amount of bandwidth your visitors use or websites you add.

My genuine hope is that you would take website security seriously and would take the fist step into this using this platform. Also, do share your experience with this platform if you use it.

If you are already using website security services, what has really helped you so far? Do share your experience and if you have horror stories, those too!
