Unwild

I’m standing in the wilderness
Wishing to be mad
Longing for insanity
Wanting it so bad
And yet I cannot feel it
I’m cold to its beat
Stiff like an ice sculpture
Amidst the burning heat
I watch them dance around me
Watch them hoot and chant and scream
And wish that I could integrate
Into their frenzied dream
And yet I stand here, hollow
I can’t see the pixie dust
I’m invisible and indifferent
I’m slowly growing rust
Reach out please, and pull me
Into this barmy dream
I want to feel the madness
I so crave to hear my scream.
