What does the word “soft” mean to you?

Soft is when you feel the air tickle your nostrils as you breathe, it is when your breath feels almost palpable. Soft is when you can feel the movement of your lips when you pour sound through them -your words shaping them, bringing them into contact like a slow dance. Soft is when you sit with your favorite book after a shower, the wind from the ceiling fan caressing your skin in whispers. Soft is when you return from a 6-day trip and  cuddle your kitty that you missed much. Soft is when you turn your face up and let your skin absorb the light rain. Soft is when your mother kisses your cheek when she sees your eyes water over something that hurt you. Soft is when you feel your loved one’s breath against your skin when they’re sleeping. Soft is when your heart feels light as a fluffy feather inside your chest -the space within expanding into an infinity. Soft is when your mind feels free of trouble for once -like appreciating a moment of silent stillness after a lifetime of chaos. Soft is when you let your hair dance in the wind. Soft is the inaudible whisper that escapes your lashes when you blink -your lids colliding together, making you miss the light for just a fraction of a second. Soft is when you let out a happy sigh. Soft is when your skin smells of dust motes, air and sun. Soft is when your heart beats in a rhythm of freedom -letting go, letting go. Soft is you. Soft is always you.
