GBV in public transport by Sybil Wettasinghe

Sexual harassment in public transport has become a widespread problem in Sri Lanka. It has been found that 94% of women are subjected to sexual harassment in buses and trains. Travelling alone, falling asleep, crowding and not protesting against sexual advances are known to be some of the contributory factors leading to GBV in public.
Our next illustration by Sybil Wettasinghe for the ‪#‎16days‬ campaign portrays a common occurrence in public transportation with a twist, showing unusual reactions from the victim and those around her. Maybe responses such as these could lead to some form of prevention by the perpetrator in future.
