BBS strongman Gnanasara Thero’s penchant for controversy resurfaced yesterday when the Thero ordered and allegedly consumed a dish of ‘Pan-Fried Monkfish’ at the Barefoot restaurant in Colombo.
The BBS has denied media reports that the monk’s consumption of monkfish was a veiled threat towards to the coastal branches of the Sangha.
When reached for comment on his choice of dish, Gnanasara Thero said, ‘The monkfish was quite lovely – just the right balance of acidity and bitterness with a hint of rosemary and served with a divine white wine jus; I heartily recommend it.’
[Ed: new reports suggest that the fish consumed was actually Modha – we’ll stick with the Monkfish story as it’s funnier]
