Attachments…

There was once a little girl who thought the world was a place where only her parents and sister, pet dogs, cats and duckies existed. No one else was needed or to be trusted. Her love was fully reserved for the family and all things yummy. As she grew (in height, weight and wisdom), her circle of friends grew bigger.Secrets and crushes kept well inside the clique, special codes used to communicate and the words to live by were “friends forever”. Love is what she shared with her favorite people. Love is all she had to offer to anyone she knew and cared for.

Being a character so strong and holding her head so high, emotional attachments were her weak point. So there came a moment, where the strings of emotions got the best of her and tangled her so tight that she ripped herself apart. Even the closest to her heart could not save her from the suffering.

She fought hard and came back strong. With the scars from the battle, she walked out with a shield to protect herself from pain and hurt…. She swore that no one else would harm her soul or even be welcomed to walk in. Standing her guard, whoever crossed her path was looked at with suspicion. Time passed….and the little innocent girl became soulless. The dark side took over. Hiding herself from happiness, love or anything joyful she drowned in suffering.

Then there was him… No, not a knight with shining armor on a white horse. In fact he may not have even been on a horse back. But, there he was… Watching her from a distance.. Observing her. He saw the suffering she made herself go through. There was nothing more to hurt her but she was punishing and torturing herself. She was wounded, he saw.. He kept a safe distance to heal her. Offering her a chance to see the reflection of the better person trapped inside her. But refusal was what she was comfortable with…

He could have given up… He did not. There were no magical transformations or mysterious ways with this simplistic man. All he had on a platter was “nothing” because all he too had to offer was love, the most pure kind.

And there she was, looking at herself through him! She was ready to be loved and give back love… She opened her dark soul to the brightness of happiness. With her old scars, she allowed these strings of attachment to bind her with him till the end of days!
