Spring

Spring is the season that brings new life to vegetation, birds, animals and human beings; flowers bloom, birds return home from warmer climates they migrated to, hibernating animals leave their sleeping places and human beings shed their heavy, thick clothes and go for lighter ones.

In the Northern Hemisphere spring weather begins in late March and continues till early June. In the Southern Hemisphere spring weather begins by about September and ends by early December. The days grow longer and the nights grow shorter.

Summer

Summer is the warmest season of the year. The days are longer than at any time of the year. The direct rays of the sun bring more heat to the earth. It’s season of great joy for everything in nature. People are outdoors merrily enjoying life. They take part in games that can be enjoyed in hot weather. Swimming, boating, climbing mountains and walking tours are some such activities.

The Northern Hemisphere has summer weather during May, June, July and August. In the Southern Hemisphere, summer weather is from late December to early March.

Autumn

Autumn is the season between summer and winter. The weather gets a little cooler. The sun is not quite as high in the sky as it was in summer. The Northern half of the earth has autumn weather during late September, October and November. The Southern Hemisphere has autumn from March until early June. Autumn is called ‘the fall’ in some countries as it is the period of falling leaves. Autumn is the season when many crops are harvested. As the season ends, lakes and streams begin to freeze. The migration of birds begins. Pre-winter snow-storms become active. 

Winter

Winter is the coldest season of the year. The Northern Hemisphere has winter weather during the months of December, January, February and early March. In the Southern Hemisphere winter weather begins in July and lasts until early September. The nights are long and the days are short.
