Meeting the commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Daya Rathnayaka at Abimansala-Anuradhapura

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, minutes after religious observances at Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya to coincide with the 64th Army Anniversary and Army Day (Oct 10), paid a visit to the ‘Abimansala – I’ (wellness resort) to inquire into the well-being of dependent War Heroes, residing there for the rest of their lives.

Lieutenant General Ratnayake, at the invitation of the ‘Abimansala – I’ Commandant, unveiled a plaque and open the new Ayurvedic treatment unit, established in the complex for the benefit of inmates who are still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

Next, the Commander took time off to freely interact with those permanently disable War Hero inmates while sharing their concerns and inquiring into their requirements, if any. As they were partaking meals, the Commander, showing true fatherly care, sat with Major Dushyantha yapa, a totally visually-handicapped resident War Hero and helped him enjoy his meals.
