International Womens’ Day

A Dedication

For me, today is about reflecting on my own personal struggle, and how far I’ve come, really just to overcome my own circumstances of an abusive marriage followed by the marginalization that I feel for being a single woman with a child. Society is cruel, and although people say that you should escape from domestic violence, once you do, there is no system to help you. You are seen as the single woman who was unable and unwilling to tolerate her marriage for the sake of her children. Men see you as an easy target, a sheep lost from the flock, prey.

So today, here on this site, which I am thankful to, I dedicate my post to other women like me, for whom just the process of living in our society remains a struggle.

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience with the rest of us. It’s a hard decision to make; even if it is to get out of an abusive marriage – because you know that the world out there is cruel. Hence women like you are especially brave and strong. You have stood up to what is wrong and said NO to abuse! You have done yourself a favour and protected your child from witnessing an abusive relationship.

Forgive those who cannot understand this because their circumstances are different… pay no head to what they say… ignore the men who prowl for an easy target.
