The 13th International under 14 invitational cricket tournament among coaching schools/ academies for the “Nelson Mendis” Challenge trophy will take place from 8th-24th April 2017.
C.C.C School of Cricket began back in 1998 under the watchful eye of coach Nelson Mendis. The coach has ever since become a veteran in the coaching circuit and has a record of 57 years of coaching in Sri Lanka.
Under the guidance of coach Mendis, who has produced 24 players who went on to represent Sri Lanka at the highest level of the game and his coaching school/ Academy has become one of the most sought after and highly successful breeding ground for youngsters.
This years tournament include 4 groups of 8 teams a total of 32 teams. The group stage will be played under the league system with, each team playing a minimum of seven matches on a round robin basis.
There will be 5 teams from India who will undoubtedly add more competition to this tournament while 4 teams from the Island will make its debut in the tournament.
Last years champions, Fingara International Cricket Academy will be a team to watch out for as they seek to retain their title. The matches will be played in 12 venues around the island.
