One of the oldest rivalries in school cricket along the Southern border unraveled on the 24th, 25th and 26th of April at the Uyanwatta Stadium between St. Servatius’ College and St. Thomas’ College. After three exciting days of cricket the battle ended in a tame draw with both teams taking honors in the batting department.

St Thomas College won the toss and elected to field first. Their rivals got off to a decent start but their batsman couldn’t convert their innings into big ones which could have given them the edge. Thilan Prashan was the only half centurion in the innings for St Servatius as he top scored with 61 runs. Supun Kavinda scored 48, just 2 runs short of his half century. The rest of the batters chipped in with valuable cameos and all the contributions guided them to a decent first innings total of 207 runs. With the ball for St Thomas, Maleesha Sadushka, Hasin Dilman, Praveen Madushan and Lahiru Dilshan shared 2 wickets each.

St Servatius came on to bat on the first session of the 3rd day and held forth for 68 overs and scored 174 for 6 before they declared their innings and gave the Thomians a target of 171 runs to get from 20 overs.
