Three matches of the Singer Schools U19 tournament concluded today (18th) with S. Thomas’ and Nalanda recording outright victories while the Josephians secured a first innings win.

S. Thomas’ vs Trinity

The Thomians completed a brilliant come from behind win, when they went past the winning line with one wicket remaining at Mount Lavinia.

Resuming from their overnight score of 123/3, Thomians lost wickets at regular intervals before they decided to make a positive declaration, still trailing the Trinitians by 45 runs.

Thevin Eariyagama (4/18), Dellon Pieris (3/25) and Pavith Rathnayaka(3/29) backed that decision brilliantly as they shared the ten wickets between them to bundle out Trinity for just 76 runs in 22.5 overs.

The Thomians went through some anxious moments in pursuit of their victory target of 122 but eventually got there with one wicket in hand. Skipper Romesh Nallapperuna led the way with an unbeaten 35 under pressure.
