Avishka Fernando 96 goes in vain

South Africa U19s beat the Sri Lanka U19s for 2nd time in the ongoing triangular tournament which also involves the Zimbabwe U19s, by 39 runs today(21).

The Proteas winning the toss and electing to bat first amassed 260/8 in their allotted 50 overs.

Muhammed Mayet made a superb century for the hosts which included 14 fours and a six.

Nipun Ransika impressed once again as he picked up three wickets while Praveen Jayawickrama chipped in with two wickets for the visitors.

The Lankans got off to a flying start once again as skipper Avishka Fernando went on to make a superb 96 off just 62 balls. His knock included 14 hits to the rope and 4 over it.

The Sri Lankans were sitting pretty at 157/2 in the 21st over at one stage before they collapsed dramatically to lose their last eight wickets for just 64 runs.
