The Sri Lanka U19 bowlers put up a brilliant display with the ball to help them record a seven wicket over the Zimbabwe U19s today (20).

The Zimbabwean’s who were fresh from a five wicket victory over the hosts, South Africa, were restricted to just 192/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Rashmika Dilshan, Nipun Ransikaand Kamindu Mendis picked up two wickets apiece while Jehan Daniel and Praveen Jayawickrama bowled economically for the Lankans.

Makoni, Zwidzai and Loche were the only Zimbabwean batsman to reach the 30 run mark as rest of the batting were strangled by the Lankan bowlers.

In reply, the Sri Lanka U19s got off to a flying start thanks to an opening stand of 104 between skipper Avishka Fernando and Vishwa Chathuranga. Fernando was unfortunate to miss out on a half century but his partner, Chathuranga, went on to make a brilliant 90 which included 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Kamindu Mendis capped off a good day with both ball and bat as he steered the Lankans to victory with an unbeaten 33.

This was also their second win of the triangular tournament which also involves the hosts, South Africa U19s.
