In the post-conflict narrative, there are stories that are glossed over, or never told.

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.  To mark this day, Groundviews travelled to Mannar and Mullaitivu, areas that remain underreported, post-conflict, in order to highlight the plight of female-headed households in these areas.

The women interviewed struggle against numerous obstacles, from stigma to bureaucracy to outright violence – with little to no state support. One in four households are female-headed, according to census data. View the full story, compiled on Adobe Spark, here, or below:
