Heavy rains in Dambulla prompted the match officials to call off the 1st unofficial one-day match between Sri Lanka A and West Indies A today.

Only 12.5 overs were possible on Monday as the visiting skipper Jason Mohommad won the toss and elected to bat first. Wicket keeper batsman Chadwick Walton and right-handed opening batsman Kyle Hope got their team off to a cracking start adding 40 runs in just 4.5 overs before the former was caught by Lahiru Milantha off Kasun Rajitha for just 16 runs.

Left-handed Assad Fudadin made 14 off 10 balls during a 19-run stand for the 2nd wicket but gave a simple catch to Dasun Shanaka off Amila Aponso as West Indies fell to 59/2. Hope was timing the ball excellently during his unbeaten 39-ball 28 but play was called-off at around 10.45am when the Windies were 69 for 2.

The match will resume tomorrow (25th October) from 9.45am onwards.

West Indies ‘A’ – 69/2 in 12.5 overs: Kyle Hope 28*, Chadwick Walton 16, Assad Fudadin 14, Amila Aponso 1/13, Kasun Rajitha 1/22.
