With the rainy season coming up, we take a look at some of the Singer U19 division I cricket tournament matches which were played today (Sunday).

Lumbini College vs St Servatius College

Skipper, Thanuka Dabare’s five-for helped Lumbini College register a convincing 8 wicket victory against St Servatius College at Uyanwatta Stadium today. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. They were cleaned up for just 89 runs with left-arm spinner, Vimukthi Kulathunga of Lumbini taking 5 wickets.  In reply, Lumbini College managed go past the first innings total of St Servatius but  were also bowled out for a solitary 148 runs in 41.2 overs. Left-arm spinner, Sashika Dulshan bagged 6 for 37 for the boys from Matara.

Servatius had to bat a whole day for their second innings to save the game. But the Lumbini bowling attack led by Thanuka Dabare cleaned them up for just 122 runs in 45.2 overs. Dabare’s figures stood as 5 for 31 while Vimukthi Kulathunga took 2 wickets to add to his five-for in the first innings. With just 63 runs to get in the last session, Lumbini got over the line in just 13.1 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Moratu Vidyalaya vs S Thomas’ College

Left-arm orthodox spinner, Dellon Pieris’s six wicket haul helped S Thomas’ take the upper hand on day 1 of their Group C encounter against Moratu Vidyalaya today at their home grounds in Mt Lavinia. The Thomians won the toss and opted to bowl first. The visitors were rendered haplessthrough some brilliant bowling by Dellon who bagged six wickets and helped his team to bundle out Moratu Vidyalaya for just 61 runs. In reply, at stumps on day 1, S Thomas’ were 98 for 3 in 38 overs.
