Richmond College v Royal College at Reid Avenue

Continuing from 189 for 3 overnight, Royal managed to gain the upper hand in their Singer U19 Schools Cricket Encounter in the first hour of day two. Royal managed a further 6 wickets conceding just  77 runs before captain Kamindu Mendis declared the Richmond innings at 266 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Fast-bowler Chamaka Edirisinghe and off-spinner Ganith Sandeepa were the most impressive bowlers for the home team.

Off-spinner, Sandun Mendis 3/32 and left-arm spinner Ravishka Wijesiri 3/15 proved too good for the hosts Royal to handle as they were bowled out for just 119 in their first innings.

Enforcing the follow on, Richmond failed to pick the next 10 wickets of Royal as they managed to hang on by the scruff of their teeth to escape an embarrassing outright loss. Vice-captain Himesh Ramanayake fought valiantly with the bat while fast-bowler Thilanga Udeeshana picked up 3 wickets.
