The second match day of the Prima U15 Provincial Tournament concluded last evening. Here’s a brief look at the matches which took place around the country.

North Central Province VS Eastern Province

Eastern Province cruised to a convincing 6 wicket victory in their match against North Central Province at Kotte. After electing to bat first, North Central was bundled out for just 159 runs in 48 overs. Chamidu Sudushka bagged 4 for 32 while Sumith Devinda top scored with 39 runs. In reply, Eastern Province crossed the line in just 37.1 overs with 6 wickets in hand. Kavindu Lakshitha, with an unbeaten 65, guided his team over the line.

Western Province South-Outer VS Southern Province

A dominating performance by Western Province South-Outer saw them registering a 154 run victory over Southern Province. Kavindu Umayanga and Dunith Nimhana scored valuable half centuries which helped Western South-Outer to reach 275 runs in their 50 overs. In reply the Southern boys were never in the hunt as wickets tumbled in quick succession. Rishan Sanjaya, Lahiru Madusanka and Ashan Gimhara bagged 2 wickets each which helped Western South-Outer to restrict Southern to just 121 runs.

Western North-Outer Province VS Western Province

The clash between two Western Province teams was a thriller as Western North-Outer snatched victory by 57 runs. Western North-Outer posted 198 runs in their 50 overs. Kemira Wijenayake scored a valuable half century while Dayan Pankaja and Janidu Jayawardana chipped in with cameos. In reply, Western Central was in the hunt but lost their way due to some disciplined bowling by Western North-Outer. Ultimately Western Central was bowled out for just 141 runs which gave Western North-Outer a 57 run victory.

Uva Province VS North Western Province

This match was affected by rain but that could not prevent North Western Province from registering an easy 9 wicket win according to the Duckworth-Lewis method. Gayantha Wickramaarachchi was the star of the match with 5 wickets and good cameo of 23 under his name for North Western Province.

Western North had it easy against Northern Province as they won the encounter by 7 wickets. Northern batted first and only managed to score 115 runs in 33.2 overs. In reply Western North got over the line in just 21.2 overs.

Another low scoring affair at Ratmalana was won convincingly by Western South Province by 7 wickets. Central batting first was bowled out for just 87 runs. Dinith Wanniachchi bagged 5 wickets for the Westerners.
