MAS, Hayleys, Kanrich and LB Finance cruise through to semis

Kasun Vidura lit up the quarter final stage of the Mercantile Division B cricket tournament as MAS Silueta, Hayleys, Kanrich and LB Finance all made their way through to the semi-finals.

Mobitel vs MAS Silueta

Winning the toss and bowling first, MAS managed to restrict Mobitel to a below par 228 in 50 overs. , Buddika Sanjeewa (3/26), Kaveen de Silva (3/36) and Angelo Emmanuel (2/35) did the damage for MAS.

Dineth Hewathanthri 70, Eranga Rathnayake 30, Sithara Liyanage 28 were the stand out batsmen for Mobitel as they managed to drive them to their total.

In reply MAS reached 174 for 5 in 39 overs as the game was cut short by rain. The game did not resume following the rain delay and the result was decided using the D/L method, handing MAS a 5 wicket win. Ishan Nilaksha was the driving force of MAS as he fought his way to a well compiled 55.

Hayleys vs John Keells

Lisulsa Weerasekara top scored with 84 as he led Hayleys to 269 for 7 in 50 overs after being put into bat by John Keells. Maduranga Soyza provided vital support scoring 56 while Pramodh Fernando scored 32 for Hayleys.

John Keells lead by Manoj Sarathchandra with the bat managed just 230, eventually falling short by 39 runs. Manoj Sarathchandra top scored with an unbeaten 86 while Samith Fernando (42) and Zineth Wickramasinghe (35) were the others to impress with the bat.

Chemila Obeysekara (3/34) and Ali Khan (3/41) managed 6 wickets between them as they ran through the Hayleys batting with relative ease.

Seylan Bank vs Kanrich Finance

Following been put in to bat, Seylan Bank managed just 206 for 8 in 50 overs as the Kanrich bowling proved too good to handle for Seylan Bank. Chanaka Wijesinghe was the only batsman to get a score of any significance with 63. Thilina Kumarasinghe managed 27.

In reply Kasun Vidura (108*) lit up the Kanrich chase as he, along with Damith Priyadharshana (76*), ended the game handing Kanrich finance a comfortable win with 8 wickets in hand.

LB Finance vs Singer

Winning the toss and inserting the opposition, Singer made good progress with the ball and managed to dismiss LB Finance for a reasonable 257 in 49.1 overs. National cap Kusal Mendis top scored for LB Finance with 72 as Shasheen Fernando (50) and Sahan Arachchige (35) were the other batsmen to make notable contributions.

Charith Sudaraka, 5/26 ran through the fragile Singer batting along with Keshan Wijerathna who managed 2/10 as he provided timely support to dismantle Singer for just 90 runs in 25.2 overs.
