Even after two dominant performances by SA Emerging team and SL Emerging team, the second and final four day match ended in a tame draw at Pretoria today.

The Lankans resumed play at 467 for 7 today with Anuk Fernando unbeaten on 32 and Akila Dananjaya yet to score. Anuk carried on and reached a credible half century but on the other end wickets tumbled.

Akila scored a resolute 27 and Anuk was later dismissed for 57 runs. They managed to score 510 runs in 132.1 overs, by far the best performance they put up with the bat. For the hosts, Bjorn Fortuin grabbed 4 wickets for 97 and Mbulelo Budaza took 3 for 87 runs.

With only three quarter of the day left the South Africans managed to see off the day with 99 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. However the Lankans should be proud of their performance in this test match compared to what they showcased on the first match.

Lahiru Milantha’s innings will surely be remembered and noticed by the selectors. Their tour is not yet over as they will fly to Zimbabwe to play a few one dayers.
