Senarath Attanayake and Nirmi Vitharana: Talk Back with Jayasiri

CMEV is facilitating a series of programs focusing on current issues, giving special focus to electoral reforms and the reconciliation process of the country.
Uva Provincial Council member Mr. Senarath Attanayake and International Center for Ethnic Studies (ICES) researcher Ms. Nirmi Vitharana expressed their ideas on the ongoing consultation work related to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and their experience on how to mainstream political rights of PwDs into the electoral process.
Both of them are activists on disability issues and Mr. Senarath is the only elected member in PCs across the country who makes use of a wheel chair. Nirmi is engaged in extensive research and consultation work on disability issues. Both of them were founding members of ‘Enabled Elections’ ; highly activated during the last 2 national elections in partnership with CMEV, in order to facilitate the voting rights of PwDs.

The program was presented by W. Jayasiri and was produced by Lanka Puvath Ltd. under the invitation of CMEV. They are the only state news agency of Sri Lanka which was established in 1978 and is a member of the Organisation Asia – Pacific News Agencies- OANA Pool.
