Hyline SC vs Red Sun SC

Hyline SC defeated Red Sun SC 3-1 in a Premier League Division I groups stage encounter at the Peradeniya University Grounds.

It was a close game despite the score-line reading 3-1 in favour of Hyline SC, where Dharmaraja College player Gihan Ishara was the star man with two goals.

Hyline SC kicked off proceedings on the front foot as they managed to rattle the Red Sun SC during the early exchanges. While creating chance after chance the only piece which they lacked in their puzzle was the finishing.

Hyline SC got a golden opportunity with their left wing sent a through ball to Gihan Ishara who was unmarked at the center of the field of play, he spoilt the opportunity by sending it just above the cross bar.

Then the game started to be more of a contact game and the referee having to issue 3 yellows cards in quick succession as a result.

The game then turned out to be a more of a possession’s game where both the teams tried to showcase authority by exploiting each other’s weaknesses.

In the 32nd minute Red Sun got their opportunity to get in front but they too sent the ball over the crossbar, this was a rather easy chance comparing to the one Hyline got at the start of the game, the player having to beat only the keeper to score.

At the brink to half time the Red Sun SC player Dilan Harsha Perera showed some outstanding dribbling skills with a superb finishing touch to send it into the left corner of the net making the score 1-0 in favour of Red Sun SC.

The second half started with Hyline SC showing more intent to get to the ball than in the first half, they showed energy and power in the first 10 minutes of the second half have making the Red Sun players to run around the field to get possession.

Their efforts was rewarded in the 72nd minute when Ishara made a dribbling sprint past some tiring defenders from the center of the field to put the ball back in the net rather casually with Sherifdeen Roshan making the assist.

Two minutes later Hyline got a penalty for a hand ball which was deliberate by all means which was to prevent the incoming player of Hyline to head the ball in easily. Roshan took the penalty which he scored rather easily with the goalkeeper diving in the wrong direction.

The Hyline players however again came into the penalty box area on two occasions in quick succession (78′ & 84′) both times having won corners which they failed to convert into goals.

However the icing on the cake was laid by the schoolboy Ishara scoring his second goal of the match in the 90th minute scoring a carbon copy of his first goal.
