Chilaw Marians stunned high flying SSC by 104 runs while Army beat CCC by 7 wickets to make the final of the Under 23 Division 1 cricket tournament.

All-round Chalana De Silva stars as Chilaw Marians stun SSC
Losing the toss and being put in to bat Chilaw Marians managed a rather below par 220 as they were bowled out in 49.2 overs. Chalana De Silva was the lone warrior for the Marians with the bat as he managed a fighting 90 while none of his fellow batsmen managed to pass the 35 run mark. Andrew Parayaz was the pick of the bowlers for SSC with 3 for 23. Adeesha Thilanchana (2/40) and Nuwan Thushara (2/41) managed four wickets between them.
SSC looked like favorites to proceed to the final at the innings break but 9 wickets between Rajika Dilshan (3/16), Charith Rajapakshe, (3/18) and Chalana De Silva (3/20) put the brakes on SSC and brought them to a halt at 116 all out. Krishan Sanjula put up staunch resistance for SSC with 71 but his teammates failed to pass the 30 run mark.

Ashan Randika heroics guide Army home
Winning the toss and batting first CCC managed just 209 for 9 as they were restricted by the Army bowlers. Yoshan De Silva bagged 3 for 39 as Sanjika Ridma (2/33) and Nalin Perera (2/33) picked up 4 wickets between them. Roshen Anurudda made 54 for CCC while Danush Peiris also managed a half-century but it was not enough to propel CCC to a big total.
Ashan Randika made a splendid 85 as he along with Himasha Liyange(40) and Sasheen Dilranga (39*) took Army home with ease. Woshantha Silva was the only bright spark for CCC with the ball as he managed 2 for 44.
