Trinity College celebrate scoring a goal - Schools Football 2016

Mohamed Sameer scored a 94th minute winner as Trinity College defeated Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala 2-1 in their final group stage match of Kotmale Chox U19 Schools Football Championship at Pallekele.
It was a slow start to the game from both teams due to the heavy rain that fell at the start of the match.

As the rain seized both teams played attacking football with Maliyadeva left winger R.N.Herath getting into the Trinity penalty box a few times but promising defender Y.Dewndaraarachchi was able to clear them.

Both goalkeepers were tested and came out trumps in the match. After an exciting 18 minutes it was the hosts who started scoring, Right winger Ravishka Herath sent a cross to the farm post which beat the goalkeeper and Nuwan Jayalath easily converted it into a goal.

After that Herath was awarded a yellow card because a dangerous tackle on the visitors’ goalkeeper.

There after both teams tried to score but both goalkeepers managed to keep them away and end the 1st half with Trinity leading 1-0.

In the second half Maliyadeva College reduced their defense line into 3 and played an attacking game.

After the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half Trinity defender Y.R.Jayasinghe also received a yellow card.

Visitors’ forwards M.Weththasinghe and K.B.Ekanayaka tried to level the game but Trinity defenders managed them well with Dewundaraarachchi doing his job well.

After quite a few missed chances Maliyadeva finally got on the scorecard, in 80th minute Weththasinghe leveled the game scoring from inside the penalty box.

From that point onwards both teams attacked equally to score the winning goal of the game.

Last gasp goal gives St.Joseph Vaz the win

In the 85th minute again Weththasinghe got a golden opportunity to score the winning goal to his team but Trinity goalkeeper saved it with a massive dive.

Trinity got a corner kick in the 4th minute of extra time and skipper Dinura Ediriweera sent it to the exact place but Maliyadeva defenders saved it 3 times but still the ball was inside the penalty box which was finally converted by Mohomed Sameer with the last kick of the game.
