It was in January 2007 that we started CPRsouth in Manila. Now the 10th conference is coming back to East Asia, to Taipei. And as it was in Manila, there will be a strong presence from LIRNEasia.

The conference program.

I was the only board member then. This time I will have company. Erwin Alampay who was the local organizer of the first conference will be attending as a board member. Payal Malik, Senior Research Fellow, who was a presenter at the first conference is now a board member. Former Senior Policy Fellow Aslam Hayat will also be attending the board meeting.

Helani Galpaya and Nuwan Waidyanatha will be presenting in Taipei as they did in Manila. Grace Mirandilla Santos who was a young scholar then will be dinner speaker in Taipei. Sujata Gamage, who did the conceptual work behind CPRsouth will be another person who was at Manila and will also be at Taipei.

But we will have a lot of first-time participants: Danaja Maldeniya and Kaushalya Madhawa will be presenting papers and Gayani Hurulle will be participating as a Young Scholar.

Sriganesh Lokanathan who won the best policy brief award last year will also be presenting. Christoph Stork, Senior Research Fellow and another best paper/brief awardee, will also be presenting.

The most notable absentee is Prashanthi Weragoda, the person who carried CPRsouth on her shoulders from our first planning visit in Manila in 2006 to the last conference we organized in Mysore in 2013.
