Mother Sri Lanka

Welcome back guys, how are you all feeling today? As you already know, I'm a Sri Lankan. :) So I know most of you guys love to pay a visit to Sri Lanka and enjoy the greenery and hospitality of the pearl of the Indian ocean.

Hope this blog helps you to get educated find beautiful places in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is a small island surrounded by the Indian ocean. It holds a higher rank when it comes to bio diversity comparing with other countries.

Sri Jayawardhanapura Kotte is the capitol of Sri Lanka. Colombo is the commercial capital and the largest commercial city in Sri Lanka. Most of you have heard about Colombo i believe :)

Main language is Sinhala. English and Tamil are considered and second languages.

Total area is 65,610 km2.
Total population is 20,227,597 (according to 2012 records)

Okay, now I specially dedicate this blog to our friends who live abroad and our foreign friends who are planing to go to Sri Lanka for a vacation.

There are so many beautiful places in Sri Lanka which you can visit. The cool part of it is you can reach cold hill country from a sunny beach in maximum 3-4 hours.

When you fly from another county, most of the times you will land on Bandaranayaka International Airport- Katunayaka. Now there is another international Airport "Maththala Mahinda Rajapaksha" in Hambanthota. But most of the flights will come to Katunayaka by default unless you explicitly arrange your flight to land on Hambanthota.

Now, there is a point to keep in your mind, Bandaranayaka Airport is not located in Colombo.

Sometimes people will refer as Colombo Airport which is not correct. Bandaranayaka Airport is located in Katunayaka. You can check Katunayaka in the below map.

So from Katunayaka, the closest tourist destination is Negombo. This beautiful city is located on the west cost of the Sri Lanka. You will have a wonderful beach, hotels and all kinds of food in Negombo.  So rather than going to Colombo or any other place right after you land, I would suggest to go to Negombo.  It will save your time. :)

Here is a link to search hotels in Negombo.
