1. I wonder what diaspora Tamils hoped to achieve by protesting in front of the Oval yesterday. I am in no position to comment on the intentions of the protesters. The point to note is that the protesters were well within their rights; if they were not, it is a matter for the London police to solve. I would however say to them, keep politics away from sports.

2. The reaction of the diaspora Sinhalese (I am avoiding the use of the term ‘Sri Lankans’ consciously here) is entirely unwarranted. Indeed despicable. What happened to free speech?

3. The reaction of 'Sri Lankans’ to this incident makes me sick. For example (mind you there are worse comments than this on various pages):

“This shows how we are strong, in the ground and out site as well. Keep it up lions……. It proud to see how guys are fighting for our proud nations….. LTTE never learn from their mistake and keep on getting hammered by the lions…. It is good lesson for LTTE support and this shows how our lions are strong in the ground and out side the ground as well…….."

"Who let these motherfuckers out on the streets? Eelam my ass! Taking the side of Eelam being in India or any other country is just stupid! If you had lived twenty years back in SL, you’d bitch-slap Prabakaran’s mom for giving birth to a ruthless terrorist! He never fought for any rights! Just land, weapons & power! So STFU if you don’t know shit!
#Loyal Sri Lankan!”
