Is it all over for Angelo?

The Sri Lankan test squad for the upcoming test series with England was announced today and the notable absentee was Angelo Mathews. The guy has been absent from the Sri Lankan team since the finals of the CB series and as reported by cricinfo , it is said that the calf problem that has been troubling him is still not good and he won't be able to bowl for Sri Lanka for quite sometime. Clearly it is bad news for Angelo and Sri Lanka.

When he first came into the scene, Angelo was a very talented all rounder. His lower order batting took us to famous victories especially against the Aussies but his bowling also did the trick where he took regular wickets and created the road for victory. Yet his bowling was pretty awesome too. Who can forget his 6 wickets against the Indians at the Premadasa Stadium when he just came into the scene? Who can forget his performance against the West Indies in the WorldT20 in England? Those were some brilliant bowling performances.

Losing him as a bowler will surely hinder Sri Lanka's depth in bowling and he could never be able to be the player he was if this injury doesn't get cleared off quickly. Realistically, it could shorten his career and Sri Lanka will lose a talented cricketer at a very young age and possibly a future captain.

It is high time Sri Lanka Cricket look at every possible way to cure Angelo's injury and get him back on the field as soon as possible. The guy is a treasure for the Sri Lankan team and a great crowd puller as well. We should not let him fade him after promising so much to us and the rest of the world in such a short period of time.

"Get Well Soon Angelo , We are waiting to see you back up and running and playing again for Sri Lanka ".

Cheers!!
