With the arresting of retired Gen. Sarath Fonseka, the first domino has been nudged. I expect we’ll be seeing a repeat of arrests, assaults and murders of journalist since 2007, in the coming months. I dare say the white vans will be prowling the streets once again.
During his interview on BBC, Gotabaya Rajapaksa stated “He was a member of the security council. He only left three months ago. He divulged certain security information to the public. He did a wrong thing there. But we will not arrest him because he was the opposition candidate”.
So much for that…

The only law is ‘don’t oppose Mahinda’. General Sarath Fonseka is being arrested for “revealing military secrets and also plotting the assassination of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.” It’s a bit preposterous that he was plotting a coup with his government security and hypothetical Army deserters. ‘Revealing military secrets’ would imply that his allegations were true, which is another kettle of fish.
I guess there are two points, one is whether the charges make sense and two, whether the law is applied equally.
To me, it simply doesn’t make sense that a military men would give up the uniform and personal security, file election papers, campaign, and then decide ...

Met up with an old friend after simply ages. In between the checking out batch mates and who they married on Facebook and pizza, she got to talking about how many opinions people have which they constantly dish out to you. And how it makes you a bit unsteady, and raises questions you wouldn't have had were you doing things on your own. No man is an island, and opinions do matter, but how much? Lately I've been feeling a bit out of depth. True, I like someone after ages and I do tend to get carried away and end up getting too attached too soon, but how careful can I be?Hmmm. Rtd. General Sarath Fonseka has been arrested and court martialed by the Sri Lanka Army for committing military offences, Military Spokesman told. His media secretary Senaka de Silva was also arrested.
The arrest was confirmed by the Military spokesperson Maj: Gen: Prasad Samarasinghe.
Plotting a coup to topple the government, plotting to assassinate the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, keeping Army officers illegally, revealing Military secrets are some of the many confirmed chargers on Rtd. Gen: Sarath Fonseka, stated Mr. Lakshman Hulugalle, the Director General of Media Center for National Security (MCNS).
Mr. Fonseka had unsuccessfully contested last month’s presidential elections allied with LTTE proxy TNA, Marxist JVP and capitalist UNP where Mahinda Rajapaksa was the overwhelming winner....

Heard this insane drumming and accompanying music at the hotel im staying at, the Park Village Resort.
I went to investigate and found out it was a wedding, the drummers were a part of a band leading the groom into the party. the groom was inside a car and seemed meant to pass all the way up the grounds and onto the stage with his head covered, in a glittery veil at that.
But his bashfullness was more than compensated for by whom i assumed to be the groomsmen who were putting the best bhangra dancers to shame with some delirous moves in front of him.

Going Global
The flights to Nepal were mundane enough. Found a prayer room at Bangkok and put a nice nap. Watched ‘talented mr ripley’ on the flight to kmandu; matt damon was one devious bastard. Managed to bag a window seat on both flights.
But the mundaneness (mundanity?) abruptly ended when i saw the himalayas.
at first i thought they were just another bunch of mountain shaped clouds looming in the distance but then i realized these clouds loooked a little too solid to actually be clouds.
